Project Description

Client: Limerick City and County Council

MHL were appointed by Limerick City and County Council to carry out the Mungret and Environs Traffic & Transport Study so they could assess the impact of the Local Authority’s proposals to allow development of a strategic opportunity site in the Mungret-Loughmore area for educational, community, amenity and residential land use.

Twelve junctions on the surrounding road network were identified as being critical to this study. Traffic flow movements were calculated from traffic surveys and traffic models were built using S-PARAMICS, PICADY, ARCADY and LINSIG programs for the various peak hour analyses. The TRICS program was used to determine likely trip generation figures for the overall development and MHL designed a road network to cope with the future predicted traffic volumes in the Design Year. The proposed road network layout will provide high quality, user friendly facilities for all road users and a safer environment for the existing and future population of the Mungret-Loughmore Environs.
