Client: Limerick City and County Council
MHL were appointed to progress the Limerick Smarter Travel Route 4 in August 2013. MHL provided full engineering design services and acted in the role of PSDP in relation to construction under Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006-2013.
The appointment was to progress Route 4 from concept through stages (i), (ii), (iii) (iv) and (v) of Engineering Services under the standard Conditions of Engagement.
The Smarter Travel project promotes the delivery of sustainable transport solutions for Limerick City. The scheme consisted of improvements to pedestrian, cycle and public transport facilities in the Castletroy and Ballysimon hubs.
The Route 4 Scheme was divided into 3 phases based in different areas in the south east of Limerick City. These Phases were namely:
Phase 1: Castletroy and Newtown Junction Improvements.
Phase 2: L1171 Old Tipperary Road Improvements and
Phase 3: R527 Ballysimon Road Improvements.
