Engineers were engaged by Cork County Council to prepare drawings and relevant documents for the provision of the Midleton Northern Relief Road - Phase 1. This included the planning, tender and construction stages. The Relief Road will connect the Cork Road to the Mill Road and will also provide access to zoned commercial lands at Knockgriffin, Midleton. Co Cork.</strong></div></ul>
<strong>The proposed Relief Road connected Cork Road with Mill Road (1.6km) and provided access to the zoned residential and commercial lands at Knockgriffin Midleton Co Cork. The project  included two new MOVA controlled signalised junctions. </strong>

<strong></strong><strong>The project also includes the construction of a Railway Bride &amp; River Bridge and road construction on soft ground. MHL &amp; Associates were the lead Consulting Engineers. The project was opened to traffic in March 2009.</strong>]]></content:encoded>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Construction of 8 sets of traffic lights, 7 pedestrian crossings, 13 primary traffic signal aspects, 7 secondary traffic signal aspects, 16 pedestrian signal and all associated drainage, loop detectors, tactile pavement, ducting and services.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The contract involved widening of the existing carriageway in the vicinity of the junction to provide additional lanes.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<strong>The Design and Construction of the Dublin Road Green Route, Limerick</strong>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">MHL &amp; Associates were the Employer’s Representative, Project Supervisor Design Process and Design Engineers for the Project, including Bus Priority Corridor Study, Preferred Route &amp; Measures, Part 8 Public Display &amp; Consultation, Detail Design and preparation of Tender Documents &amp; Drawings and Construction Stage Supervision. The Project extends from Groody Roundabout/City Boundary at Castletroy to the Kilmurry Roundabout (2.5km), and included design of Site Specific Traffic Management Plans  and Traffic Signals design.</p>

The Project upgraded the Dublin Road providing a high quality environment for pedestrians, cyclists and the mobility impaired with traffic calming measures, improved bus facilities including bus lanes where possible and provide a safer environment for all road users.
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The Design Process started with a full Bus Priority Study including Paramics Microsimulation Traffic Modelling of the impacts of the various potential improvement measures in 2004. The study covered a 5km bus corridor.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The works include 26100 sq. m of pavement resurfacing, 4000 sq. m of new inbound bus lane, 2500 sq. m of new cycle facilities, widening of roads and footpaths and associated works, construction of new footpaths, coloured road pavement overlay (bus stops and cycle lanes), Anti-skid surfacing, road markings and traffic signs, installation of traffic signals and controls, upgrading the public lighting, new services ducting, road drainage, upgrading bus shelter infrastructure, new  zebra pedestrian crossings.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">The Works Contractor was Siac Construction and the cost of the Works was approximately €2.5 Million, completed December 2008.</p>
